Thought you all might be amused at some of the recent "Letters to the Editor" here in Springfield, MO (Springfield News-Leader.) All you really need to know is that Spfld is a whole lot more conservative/Republican/religious that Fayetteville. The hallmark of these letters is their tone of outrage and childish petulance.
Remember also these are likely the exact same voters who loved to point out that the Republican takeover of years ago was "democracy in action." In other words, "Nyah-nyah-nyah!"
____________________________________________________________
Example #1: "DEMOCRATS HAD GOP HELP"
"While Democrats are doing their little victory dance in the end zone, it would be wise for them to remember that they really did not win this election alone.
Spoiled brat Republicans who were mad at 'Daddy' took their anger at 'Daddy' out by helping the town bullies beat up on their little, well-behaved, very accomplished, hard-working little brother. This story repeated itself in several other states, where candidates who were hugely popular just one year ago were turned out of office to make a point.
I find it very disturbing that there were people who did not care enough to even decide until the last couple of days how they were going to vote — and their vote was based on their 'gut' and campaign rhetoric and not on valid information that they could have gotten easily if they had tried.
The old cliche, you 'threw the baby out with the bath water,' comes to mind. I really hope that I am wrong, but I believe strongly that many of you, within the very next few months or even weeks, will find yourselves regretting this vote you cast in smugness or anger.
The old 'I'll make Daddy sorry' attitude did not work well as a child, and is pathetic in adults."

Example #2: "COUNTRY ELECTS LEFT-WINGERS"
(warning: this one is particularly eyeball-roll-worthy!)
"Nov. 7 was a typical example when a ignorant part of uniformed America went to the polls in large numbers. They will elect anybody as long as they espouse the ultra left-wing ideals. Most of these folks are against right to life, heterosexual marriage, low taxes and a wonderful economy. Sure, we have a problem in Iraq, and the president has made some mistakes, but I and many others are glad we have him. Thank the good Lord that Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton were not in charge.
Our country is in tough shape with this bunch that's taking over, but we will win in the end. I will pray that these folks do a good job."

And now for something completely different . . .
Example #3: "GOP BOWS OUT WITH GRACE, CLASS"
"I would like to point out the major difference between a Republican defeat and a Democrat defeat. The Republican Party has bowed out peacefully and has not raised a stink in any areas where it was cheated. Joplin ran out of ballots approximately an hour before the polls closed, according to the news staff of some of the local radio stations. Research would point out that the Joplin area is a heavy Republican voting area with enough votes to possibly swing the election to Talent.
He isn't crying, or demanding an investigation, sniveling about mismarked ballots or any such ploy of the Democrats. My hat off to the members of the Republican Party for gracefully stepping aside and allowing our country to slide even faster into socialism.
Had you in the Republican Party done as you promised in 1994, I'm sure you would still have your majority in both halls of Congress; however, you chose to allow power and politics to lead you into the basement of decay. You allowed yourself to follow the lead of the Democratic Party when they were in power for 40 years. Learn from your lessons, and next time bring a slate of fiscally responsible candidates that not only talk the talk but also walk the walk.
A gentleman like Ron Paul would be a great example to follow if you want your majority status back."
(The writer was a Libertarian candidate for office in 139th House District.)

Maybe because the Democrats didn't cheat. And the Republicans did.

Democrats aren't socialists. But the neocons in the Republican Party have shown that they are fascists.
