Sources for political and economic research

I asked this in another thread, but decided it might be better to start a new thread for it.

What sources would everyone recommend for research in political and economic matters? I already found Jstor, but I'm curious as to what sources people here consider to be trustworthy.

I guess in a similar vein I should really ask whether the community here thinks economics is scientifically valid to begin with. Can science be used to study economic and political matters?

I find wikipedia to usually be a good source, except on controversial matters, and this applies with other news sources too. When a topic is controversial, even if the controversy is manufactured (climate change deniers) tread carefully no matter the source. On mundane claims, one can be a little more sloppy and cursory.

I don't see why not. Depends on the particular question. See that study that was being touted regarding austerity, it was thoroughly debunked by the methods of science:
