Some of you may have seen the 60-Minutes piece on Matt Drudge, the conservative blogger, last Sunday. Drudge didn't want to be interviewed by the CBS guys, but the consensus was that Drudge is one of the major players in the Internet political field, if not the biggest player.

And, as a conservative, he is a chronic liar. He helped boost the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, among other lies.

Now he comes to the defense of Foley by attacking the boys Foley preyed upon.

And if anything, these kids are less innocent — these 16 and 17 year-old beasts…and I've seen what they're doing on YouTube and I've seen what they're doing all over the internet — oh yeah — you just have to tune into any part of their pop culture. You're not going to tell me these are innocent babies. Have you read the transcripts that ABC posted going into the weekend of these instant messages, back and forth? The kids are egging the Congressman on! The kids are trying to get this out of him. We haven't got the whole story on this.

You could say "well Drudge, it's abuse of power, a congressman abusing these impressionable, young 17 year-old beasts, talking about their sex lives with a grown man, on the internet." Because you have to remember, those of us who have seen some of the transcripts of these nasty instant messages. This was two ways, ladies and gentlemen. These kids were playing Foley for everything he was worth. Oh yeah. Oh, I haven't…they were talking about how many times they'd masturbated, how many times they'd done it with their girlfriends this weekend…all these things and these "innocent children." And this "poor" congressman sitting there typing, "oh am I going to get any," you know?

Poor Foley, at the mercy of the beasts. Perhaps he and Michael Jackson can start a support group for victims.

You've also got Gingrich saying that the GOP couldn't investigate Foley because then they'd be accused of "gay bashing." And Tony Snow saying that these are just "naughty emails." Dobson says "it's not the time to be talking about politics." There is a disturbing lack of outrage coming from the right.

The wingnuts tendency to confuse homosexuals with pedophiles has always been a problem. Most pedophiles - apparently especially the ones who go after boys - are heterosexual otherwise. Not interested in adult men at all. Yet the wingnut excuse for ousting homosexual men from teaching, scouting, etc positions is their supposed threat to the (male) children.

Fox wouldn't know fair if it came up and bit them, but in a sense you could say they are balanced. The kind of balance you get this old-fashioned apothecary scales - kid gloves treatment in the R's pan, brass knuckles treatment in the Dem's pan - balance.

Whoops, too late. BillO's show already labeled him as a Democrat. Watch the opening moment of this clip.

But of course, when Foley was on O'Really's show touting the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act to attack Ted Kennedy, he's correctly labeled a Republican.
I say we hold Foley to the "standard" to which he allegedly wants all sex offenders held.

Faux News is an easy target, since they are known to be a neocon propaganda machine. I don't own a TV (& don't want to) but how's the rest of the MSM handling this? And, of course, Foley should be "tried" by the laws he supported and helped pass.

Uh, including the Republican head of the ethics committee? When asked if he supported the speaker, Hastings said, "I think the speaker has done an excellent job."
Also, find me Democrats arguing that Hastert should remain Speaker because his removal and subsequent replacement might create even more havoc for the Republican party.

Does it matter who typed it? FAUX News screwed it up and didn't catch it. They aired the tape without fixing it. On the re-air, instead of fixing it, they simply omitted the graphic. They have no problem incorrectly labeling him as a Democrat but they have a problem correctly labeling him as a Republican? As of this afternoon, there had been no correction, retraction, or apology, despite Foley's being labeled as a Democrat at least twice on O'Reilly's show.

I note GOPRazorback never saw a copy of that butterfly ballot, otherwise the cheap shot might have been avoided. People usually know the party of whoever they actually voted for, no matter what the election fraud people did to the vote before it was counted (or discarded).

The Dems would be delighted for Hastert to retire, but why should they mix in a "family fight" that does nothing but show any Americans actually paying attention how irresponsible (as in refusing to accept responsibility) the "party of values" is?
