For my wife and I, kids have always been on the 5-year plan mainly because of graduate schooling we're both doing. But the notion of secular parenting amid a religious society has been a subject of interest for both of us. A few days ago I stumbled upon this website http://www.parentingbeyondbelief.com/
Apparently, the author Dale McGowan has written two books this very topic. Has anyone read McGowan? Or know of other websites or books that touch on this subject?

Funny enough, I'm in the middle of reading Parenting Beyond Belief. It's been interesting so far. It's really a collection of short chapters written by various authors with Dale sort of binding them together. I find it more thought provoking than some kind of "how to" manual. I don't know of any websites, but Dan Barker has written a couple of children's books about skepticism and critical thinking. I'm kind of surprised there aren't more secular parenting books.

Re: Parenting Without Religion?
I found out about this website (blog, actually) while listening to a recent Center for Inquiry podcast:
Half Full: Science for Raising Happy Kids
From the About page:
This blog is about science-based parenting advice. I’m a sociologist and the executive director of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, and since I’m reading all the research related to raising happy children anyway, I thought we might as well make it USEABLE to parents. We hope this is a valuable counterpoint to some of the more opinion-based parenting advice platforms that are out there, especially because sorting out fact from fiction can be confusing when it comes to parenting.
It's not specifically a freethought parenting page, but does provide information and advice from a scientific basis.
