Please Help develop these new Freethought groups

Post by Randall Doc Fleck »

Hi all... I'm in the beginning stages of developing several new Arkansas Freethinking groups. Here are some links you should be aware of in order to help me get these young groups on solid foundations.

Rogers/Bentonville (http://www.freethoughtnwa.org/)
Ft. Smith (http://ftsmithfreethought.ning.com/)
Texarkana (http://texarkfreethought.ning.com/)

When investigating these websites you'll notice that they're already linked to this group and its forum page and to the Little Rock group and forum as well. I hope you'll sincerely give these young groups every encouragement, suggestion, tidbit and gem of assistance by lending them the benefit of your experience in order to get their groups off the ground and soaring.

Thanks, Randall Doc Fleck

You are very ambitious Randall. I wish you nothing but the best of success with these groups. And I hope your day job doesn't keep you too busy because you will have your hands full!

One little bit of confusion. Your first link above goes to your "freethought nwa" site which says:

"Meetup date: Every Thursday, 7:00pm at Denny's Restaurant (w 6th street at I-540, Fayetteville) Informal - drop in if you can."

The underlined above is a link called: "http://www.meetup.com/Fayetteville-Freethinkers-Meetup/" which leads to a "meet up" page entited:

The Fayetteville Atheists Meetup Group

This page also uses the logo from our Fayetteville freethinker website:

and makes it seem as if this Denny's event is a "Fayetteville Freethinker" meeting. It says you've had "eight" meet ups and have "22 members."

But this is the first I have heard of this (I vaguely remember maybe Larry sending me a note). If you are going to have a meeting of the Fayetteville Freethinkers, maybe you ought to let The Fayetteville Freethinkers know? A couple of questions if you don't mind. Have you been to one of our meetings Randall? Perhaps you should come, maybe give a presentation on something.

In the above you seem to be juggling three titles

"freethought nwa"

"Fayetteville-Freethinkers-Meetup"

"The Fayetteville Atheists Meetup Group"

This is confusing.

How many "Fayetteville Freethinker" groups does Fayetteville really need? It may turn out that we in fact need several, and I say the more the better, but I doubt that it will be useful for them all to use the same name (and logo). This will only confuse people.

It's also not useful to use three different names at the same time. It might be more useful for you to focus on developing the "Freethought NWA" or "Fayetteville Atheists" names.
