Fox News contributor Mike Huckabee falsely claimed "not one drop of oil was spilled" during Hurricane Katrina
Summary: On Fox & Friends, Mike Huckabee falsely asserted, "When Katrina, a Cat-5 hurricane, hit the Gulf Coast, not one drop of oil was spilled off of those rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico."
"In fact, according to a 2007 report prepared for the U.S. Minerals Management Service by the international consulting firm Det Norske Veritas, damage related to Hurricane Katrina resulted in 70 spills from outer continental shelf structures with a total volume of approximately 11,104 barrels of oil and petroleum products, including damage to 27 platforms and rigs that resulted in the spilling of approximately 3,433 barrels of petroleum products and 2,252 barrels of crude oil and compensate. Damage to 43 pipelines resulted in the spilling of approximately 5,419 barrels of oil and petroleum products."

I did a little checking. In fact, there are about 908,400 drops to the gallon. With 42 gallons to a barrel this makes for about 38,152,800 drops in a barrel. Give or take.
So lets see how far off the Huckster was.
Claim: "not one drop of oil was spilled"
Reality: 423,648,691,200 drops of oil were spilled.
That's 423.6 billion drops. Almost half a trillion.
Well he doesn't know anything about oil or getting his facts straight. How about money? Republicans like money. How much was that 1,104 barrels of oil worth? At $142 per barrel it comes to: $1,576,768
That's nothing to sneeze at, this site guesses Huckabee's net worth to be $700,000. He earned $488,000 in 2006.

Last time I looked one of his more popular books was selling for $1.86 on Amazon.
Having a net worth of $700K in '06 was a good feat. That was his last year of serving as governor of Ark with a salary of $60-70K per year during his terms. Mostly he wrote books and did a speaking circuit while supposedly working for the state of Ark full time. He used a state paid airplane to travel to his different speaking engagements.
While running for president Huckabee took money for speaking fees, mostly to churches. That way he weaseled his way around the IRS prohibition of churches sponsoring-donating to a politician's campaign. That's nothing to sneeze at, this site guesses Huckabee's net worth to be $700,000.
