I just happened to catch a bunch of googlebots crawling good ol' FFForums. A typical guess would be that they were indexing. Maybe we'll be famous soon.
Check out the first two results for this google search for "fayfreethinkers".

Possibly due in part to the Google caching, spambot canvassing has increased exponentially. Over 100 posts have been deleted today alone.
I am about to implement a preventative measure. Please be aware that any posts that are made in the next couple hours may be lost; I recommend saving anything you want to post in case this happens.
Here is how the modification works: Any post that is submitted within five seconds of the reply page generation will be redirected to a preview. You will not be able to post a reply without waiting for the five seconds to elapse. (Generally this is not a problem with mere humans, since it takes time to type a response, but spambots are hellbent on efficiency.)
Please bear with us while we try to manage this new wave of bots.
