I once went with a guy who explained his religion to me - god already decided before people were even born who was "elected" to go to heaven, so if you're not one of the elect, you're damned. However, you can blow it - if you don't do "what god wants", you're damned anyway. Sounds like god doesn't like people much, doesn't it?
