It's time for our first Fayetteville Freethinker meeting of the year.
We hope to keep growing in 2008 so we can help spread critical
thinking skills.
Here is some good advice:
Attend a meeting if you can. Without your attendance, we have no
Fayetteville Freethinkers. And tell a friend. At meetings our goal is
to increase your awareness of various facets of freethought, and to
inspire you to be open about your beliefs with your friends, family and
co-workers.
Participate if you can. Speak up and share your opinion at one of the
Fayetteville Freethinker meetings. Ask questions. Maybe you'd like to
even do a presentation. You can tell us about a book you've read that
relates to freethought. You could even do a movie review or tell us
about an encounter with a Bible thumper. If it's a full-blown
presentation you'd like to do, talk to Darrel and Doug and see about
scheduling something at a future meeting.
We are interested in suggestions. What would you like to see and
learn at meetings? More about world religions (or less)? More politics
or less? Should we focus more on science education, current events,
debunking? If you have an idea for a future presentation or know of a
topic of particular interest to you, tell us about it. We'll see if we
can get a presentation together on that topic.
At our January meeting this Saturday Tamara will conduct an interactive
video presentation that exposes the secrets of the psychics. In the
video we'll see a "psychic" do something seemingly impossible. At that
point Tamara will pause the film and we'll try to guess how it was
done. Then we will see if we were clever enough to get it. If you've
already seen this expose, bite your tongue! We'll see if the psychics
can stump the rest of us.
