You note the comparison media was NPR - the rest of the MSM isn't doing much better than Fox. Actually, NPR wandered out of the "left" fold about 15 years ago (as more and more of its funding came from corporate sources) - but their sins are of omission, not distortion. As far as I can tell, Murdoch read "Mein Kaumf" and used it as a programming tool. In that same vein - Benito Mussolini was a fascist for a good 10 years longer than Hitler, but he was so quiet about it (and Hitler so noisy) that he was known as "Me Too" Mussolini once he signed the Axis treaty - so CBS, NBC, and ABC are being "Me Too's" in relation to Fox, even though they've been around much longer. A real pity, too - especially about CBS, who really started network news, as real news - for almost 10 years they managed to keep it separate from the pressures of advertisers and "infotainment". Edward R. Murrow warned about that "slippery slope" which NBC and ABC were already on when he retired in the mid '50s, but CBS choose that path as well by the mid '60s (with the exception of Cronkite's program, and by the mid 70s it was biasing even old "Walter"). Unfortunately, the more concentration of media ownership, the more bias in network news, and "public" is only as good as it's funding.
