WASHINGTON — President Bush's approval rating has slumped to 31% in a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, the lowest of his presidency and a warning sign for Republicans in the November elections.
The survey of 1,013 adults, taken Friday through Sunday, shows Bush's standing down by 3 percentage points in a single week. His disapproval rating also reached a record: 65%. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.
"It is a challenging political environment," acknowledges Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, "but we are confident that ultimately voters in November will recognize that a Democrat Congress would simply not be equipped to ensure either economic or national security for our nation."
Bush's fall is being fueled by erosion among support from conservatives and Republicans. In the poll, 52% of conservatives and 68% of Republicans approved of the job he is doing. Both are record lows among those groups.
Moderates gave him an approval rating of 28%, liberals of 7%.

However, as long as the Rs can control enough elections, we will get the same results as we have for the last decade. Then people will sit around and talk about how the Dems didn't do or say whatever they actually did do or say that wasn't reported by MSM, and "lost" elections they actually won - and we'll get more Repub-lite attempts to "sway" the undecideds from whoever the MSM deigns to report. No matter what the polls say, they will keep "winning" elections unless we can find a way to keep them from cheating.

As long as people believe there is a difference between the Rep and Dem factions of the Welfare-Warfare Party, they will continue to be ruled by that party. With "conservative" Bush spending more than all previous presidents combined!!! and the leading Dem Hitlery a rabid warmonger who can't wait to attack Iran, it doesn't really matter whether Tweedledee or Tweedledum win the beauty contest.
The only moral option for USAmericans is to not vote, and do your best to ignore the rulers and their edicts. Tend your own garden, build your own freedom, and don't worry too much - the Empire will disband soon, just like the old USSR did.

"Bush replacing Colin Powell with Condi Rice was confusing enough. Replacing John Ashcroft with Al Gonzales was even stranger. His initial pick for head of the 9/11 commission was Henry Kissinger -- that didn't last too long, did it? And picking Harriet Miers to replace Sandra Day O'Connor was simply funny. But the idea of replacing Porter Goss with Michael Hayden -- now that's vintage Bush.
Take the guy who oversaw the nsa's illegal wiretapping program and put him in charge of the cia.
If this isn't a vote of "no confidence" in congress, the intelligence community, and the american public, then I don't know what the friggin' hell is." --Mimus Pauly,

From a theoretical standpoint, I'm sorry Hogeye doesn't believe in voting - but from a personal one, I'm delighted - He's not going to cancel my vote.
Bush does not now and never has cared for what works - just what he wants. Anybody who helps him do what he wants gets rewarded. Those who don't get "swift-boated". Simple as that.

"The Canadian and U.S. leaders could not be more different. Stephen Harper is a genuine intellectual, brilliant in his understanding of issues. I think I'll leave it at that." -- Frank Luntz,
