Post by Doug »

PEACE IS IN OUR HANDS. The OMNI Center for Peace, Justice, and Ecology will be celebrating International Day of Peace with a forum entitled “Peace Is in Our Hands” from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on September 21, 2007, in White Auditorium, Burns Hall Room 1080, on the campus of NorthWest Arkansas Community College, One College Drive, in Bentonville.

Participants, including members of the audience, will discuss ways to implement the United Nations concept of “Shifting from a Culture of War to a Culture of Peace.” The question they will address is “What can communities and individuals do to build a Culture of Peace?”

Panelists at press time included: The Rev. Roger Joslin, All Saints Episcopal Church, Bentonville; Doug Krueger, Philosophy Professor and Co-President of the Fayetteville Freethinkers; and Hameed A. Naseem, Faculty Advisor of Al-Islam Students Association and President of the Tulsa Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam.

Music Professor David Fountain will provide piano accompaniment to members of the Community Chorus as they lead participants in “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

Members of the community are encouraged to attend and to participate in the discussions.

Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
