Fayetteville Council meeting on Bicycle Lanes

Post by Dardedar »

NOTICE:

FYI... Note to all our community of cycling-minded folks to roll out next Tuesday night to the City Council. The council needs our support in order to stand up to a very few, but very vocal dissenters. Please spend two hours of your time next Tuesday night to truly make a life-long change in our community.

The council meeting will be held in a slightly different place next Tuesday. 6pm at 100 W. Rock Street. It will be in the city or traffic courtroom located next to where traffic tickets are paid in the Fayetteville Police Department. Rock St. is located behind the Town Center on the square. No one has to speak unless you want to, but there will be a show of hands or support from all those present who are in favor of bike lanes.

Please attend and encourage others as well. The council always hears from and sees the usual suspects on bike issues. It would be nice to have a "new" group in front of them.

IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Joel McCourt. I am a 3rd generation local cyclist. The need for bike paths and lanes in this beautiful town is very large. Cycling is a growing sport and as this area grows the need for this infrastructure will compound exponentially. These bike lanes will provide safer cycling and promote a healthier lifestyle for Fayetteville residents while allowing a more efficient roadway for vehicle traffic. Please consider the Current & Future need when voting on this issue.

Fayetteville is the home of one of the Largest Annual Cycling events in the country. We should be leading the way by setting the bar for cycling friendly communities.

Please keep the bike lanes in the construction plans and continue planning for more.

Thank you for your time!

Respectfully,

Joel McCourt
