A fellow named Phil has generously donated $100 toward placing ads in a local newspaper to advertise for our meetings. This has prompted another person to match his generous donation. Anyone drawn to follow Phil's fine example is encouraged to follow their intuition.

Here are four ad ideas. Suggestions?

First, three cheers for Phil, and three more for the mystery donor!

I'd like to advise against overuse of exclamation points. The less our ads have in common with stuff like "BRAND NEW JEEP CHEROKEES FOR ROCK BOTTOM PRICES!#~!~@" and "Sunday Sunday Sunday!", the better. Natural new line after Freethinkers, so no punctuation should be necessary.

I also think that a brief explanation of what to expect at a meeting would be better than a definition (not that a definition is really a bad idea). We might also mention that we talk about current events, philosophy, and science.

What size/style of ad would we be considering, anyway?

We will probably cycle a few different ads so perhaps one could have one of the definitions. Phil suggested a definition as an idea but I agree that should only be one of the ones that gets cycled. If we do this enough in advance we could even put a topic in an ad.

Or we could put: "Presentations on current events, philosophy and science"

Size will be pretty small. A small box I am thinking. I don't think a couple hundred bucks goes far in newspaper advertising. But we are also using newspaper free advertising spots as well.

I think every ad should have the info contained in lines 1,3 and 4.
