Why would the Bush Justice Department force out adequately performing U.S. attorneys around the country in favor of political hatchet men?
They did it in Little Rock by forcing out Bud Cummins and replacing him with a certified Rove political operative named Tim Giffin. There is a pattern. The link above takes you to the newspaper story. Revealing. Wonder why Ark Senator Mark Pryor(D) has been raising a stink about the firings? He's up for re election in 08. Ex Gub, Huckabuck is running second tier for President but rumors have it he will shoot for Mark Pryors Senate seat. Last time around they used an insider political operative, David Sanders, in attempt to scandalize Pryor's Senatorial campaign over phony, unreported taxes due on Pryor's domestic help.

In Calif the federal District Attorney was fired as she was the one who successfully prosecuted Congressman Randy Cunningham(R). She was on the trail of other Rethuglicans when dismissed. No accidents in politics.
I watch this one because it may possibly be the beginning sparks of an actual impeachment.

Impeachment isn't going to be "on the table" until the Rs get fed up enough for it. The Dems in congress have more sense than to do a party-line impeachment that is overturned in the Senate. Since these illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional moves on the part of the executive branch are designed to restore the R-majority in all 3 branches of government - and perpetuate it - it is unlikely the Rs will make a move to impeach. Partyline is always more important than country (and a heckuva lot more important than "we, the people").

The Senate holds the trial for impeachment with SCOTUS chief justice presiding. No conviction is necessary. Once impeached is enough as proved with Clinton.



BREAKING: House Committee to Subpoena Ousted Prosecutors

The House Judiciary Committee will be issuing subpoenas to four of the fired prosecutors this afternoon, according to a committee spokesperson.

The U.S. attorneys who will receive a subpoena are California's Southern District's Carol Lam, New Mexico's David Iglesias, Arkansas' Eastern District's H.E. "Bud" Cummins, and Washington's Western District's John McKay. They will testify next Thursday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.

You cannot remove a president from office without the Senate. The House can impeach on partyline votes, as they did with Clinton, but Clinton was acquited in the Senate and not removed from office. The move was obviously political and very devisive. The Dems don't want that kind of mess. If the Rs come on board and we can remove those evil people from office, the House will be on it in a New York minute.

As to the ousted prosecutors - good - they have no reason to not blow the whistle on W & Co to the House Judiciary Committee. Enough "dirt" come up that the Rs can't ignore (as in, they will lose elections even in gerrymandered districts if they don't speak up) and impeachment may be back on the table.
