Jessica Simpson is Smart??!!

Everybody makes fun of how dumb Jessica Simpson allegedly is.

But she may be smarter than we think! She snubbed the shrub.
Jessica Simpson Snubs Bush
Singer-Actress Fears Visit Would Hurt Her Favorite Charity

By Steve Gorman, Reuters

LOS ANGELES (March 16) - Concerned about politicizing her favorite charity, singer-actress Jessica Simpson on Wednesday turned down a invitation to meet with President Bush, a snub that left Republicans dismayed.

The apparent final word that Simpson would be a no-show at a major Republican fund-raiser with Bush and congressional leaders on Thursday night came after a day of conflicting reports from her camp and organizers of the event.

The blond star of the film "The Dukes of Hazzard" still plans to visit Washington on Thursday to lobby members of Congress on behalf of Operation Smile, a non-profit venture offering free plastic surgery for disadvantaged children overseas with facial deformities.

Here she is, smiling because she isn't going to meet the shrub.

I saw the headline and was pleased about it, too, until I read the whole article. Her dad ruined it.

From the story found here: http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20060316/114255150000.html

Joe Simpson was adamant that his family are "big supporters" of the president.

"We are huge fans of him and his family, his girls," Simpson said. "Jessica loves the heck out of him."

In fact, Simpson said they were still trying to squeeze in a meeting with the chief executive.

Bush's ratings are so profoundly low he is making the circles trying to see if he can have any popularity rub off onto him from other people. He was photo-opping with an autistic boy with a heroic story recently (I don't know the details). A radio guy was pointing out today that at the same time Bush has profoundly cut the budget which helps people with this disease.

This was the kid who was a helper with a high school basketball team. The coach let him play for the last 4 minutes of one of their games and the kid scored 20 points!

So Bush was quick to have a photo op with himself arm-in-arm with the kid. Right-wing ABC news closed their news show with video of the event.

And look:
"It's a tough choice," the 17-year-old senior said yesterday on ABC's "Good Morning America" when asked whether meeting Bush was better than his stunning performance on the court last month. "I think meeting the president is a little bit better."

Standard Bush behavior - Molly Ivins pointed it out years ago - Anytime Bush is about to cut funding to anything, he does a photo op with one of the beneficiaries to prove he's really for whatever he's about to cut. She called it the warning flag. You'll know where his next cut will come by his photo ops.

Right. Such as cutting funding for education of autistic kids and then posing with that autistic basketball phenomenon.
