Swami: The Moon is Farther Than the Sun

In a discussion of why the moon landing was a hoax (!), we find the famous Swami Prabhupada informing us:

Image
Devotee (2): Did they actually land on the moon, Çréla Prabhupäda?
Prabhupäda: No, they cannot go there. What is the question of landing? They cannot go there. It is far, far away. What you calculated? 1,600,000 miles away, up the sun planet. 1,600,000 miles above the sun. According to your calculation, the sun is away from this planet by 93,000,000 miles. And above that, 1,600,000 miles. Then you go to the moon. How it is possible?

Guru kåpä: How is the moon behind the sun?

Prabhupäda: Not behind, above.

(ACBSP. 27th May 1975. Morning Walk in Honolulu, Hawaii.)

See here.

James Randi's website had a link to this story this week.
"We could have done something important Max. We could have fought child abuse or Republicans!" --Oona Hart (played by Victoria Foyt), in the 1995 movie "Last Summer in the Hamptons."

I think this guys mug was on the back of Bhagavad Gita I bought at a Denver airport (from a Hairy Krishna for pocket change, they expected me to donate more). It was quite a nice book, beautiful pictures.

But this guy, what a blithering idiot.

I just checked. He died in 1977.

He's not the only one. I've seen - not recently, I don't bother to go to those sites or read those screeds any more - absolutely "factual" presentations that show the moon landing was a total hoax and the pictures were Hollywood specials - stating we're still (or were, like I said, I don't read these things anymore) blowing up rockets on the launch pad like we were in the 1950s.
