Haggard Probably Blew Him Off

Post by Doug »

Here.

New Life members welcome Jones
Former male prostitute: "I was thanked for exposing the church"

Mike Jones addressed the Rev. Ted Haggard on the air Monday, saying, "If you're a gay man, you're a gay man." Jones also said he wanted to clarify he is not a drug dealer and that he was merely a go-between when Haggard reportedly expressed a desire to buy methamphetamine. (Post / Cyrus McCrimmon )As soon as the visitor from Denver walked through the church doors Sunday morning, heads turned. Word spread quickly: He was here.

Just about every person who offered him a handshake said the same thing: Welcome, thank you and God bless.

See here about the HBO special "Friends of God" in which Haggard talks about how great his sex life is. A link to a clip is included.

Maybe he'll learn something about himself and tolerance - and the fact that homosexuality, while not a dominant trait, is "natural" - as in it occurs in nature. Surely if his god created homosexual rams, he also created homosexual humans - and if his god created it, it has to be good, right?

Haggard Coming to Our Area?

Jesus made the gay go away! Who would have thought.

See here.

A minister involved in disgraced evangelist Ted Haggard’s intensive three-week counseling said the New Life Church founder is now “completely heterosexual.”

"He is completely heterosexual," Tim Ralph told the Associated Press. "That is something he discovered. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn't a constant thing."

...According to a report by the Colorado Springs Gazette, Haggard says he plans to move to Missouri or Iowa and return to college.

The Gazette reports that Haggard wrote in an e-mail that his family had been “offered two places” in the Midwestern states. He and his wife, Gayle, will go back to school together, Haggard said, but he didn’t specify where.

Both plan to get master’s degrees in psychology...

The AP reports that another minister who oversaw Haggard’s counseling, the Rev. Mike Ware of Westminster, said the oversight board recommended the move out of town and the Haggards agreed.

...It was also the oversight board that strongly urged Haggard to go into secular work, reports the AP.

Sorry, folks, but I keep seeing the thread title "Gay Male Prostitute Exposes Pastor" and I imagine some guy dashing out of the shadows in front of a congregation and -- with the quick jingle of a belt buckle and zipping sound -- deftly depantsing a shocked and unsuspecting pastor...

Hey, we're already in risqué territory, and it does say "exposes"...

Now, would I have had that in mind in writing that topic line..?

By the way, the male prostitute guy doesn't buy that Haggard is now straight. He said he can't imagine a guy who was giving him oral sex would so quickly go straight.

I don't think any but the dullest among the flock are buying it either.

And the statement that Haggard recently "discovered" that he's straight sounds too absurd to be convincing.

As much as I suspect that this was tongue-in-cheek too, I can't resist pointing it out. I could have a lot of fun with that statement.

.. And with my response, it seems.

"Ted Haggard, the minister who was caught with a gay prostitute, has just finished a three-week sex addiction program. He says he is now 'completely heterosexual.' Haggard says he will prove he is completely heterosexual by having sex only with men who are completely heterosexual"
-- Conan

"People ask, 'How did they turn Rev Ted Haggard, a clearly gay man into a heterosexual?' It's very simple. You know when you were a kid and your father caught you smoking? Then he decided to make you smoke a carton? Ted's been a busy boy." --Jon Stewart

Ya think!?

They must feel so used. Here they were having regular, deeply religious experiences, led by a man ("led by God...') who was at the same time engaging in behavior that they find most aborrhent. If their evangelical pastor is a complete phoney, what else in their life is a ruse? Maybe the Bible too? Time for a brain rinse, and a new church.

Oops, my bad. I had written a couple of posts up that the church was laying off 30 of 50 staffers. No, it was 30 TO 50, and the number is now in at about 44--out of 350.

===============
DENVER, March 5 — In the wake of a scandal involving its founding pastor, the Rev. Ted Haggard, the New Life Church in Colorado Springs has been forced to lay off 44 of its 350 workers to offset a sharp drop in donations.

...Since the announcement of Mr. Haggard’s removal on Nov. 5, New Life’s donations have fallen to $4.9 million in the past four months, compared with $5.3 million in the same period a year earlier, said Rob Brendle, the associate pastor. The drop was previously reported in The Denver Post.

Attendance at New Life, which has an estimated 14,000 members, has declined about 15 percent, Mr. Brendle said.

REad the rest here.

They've only raked in 4.9 million in the last four months. Poor babies. It will be the soup kitchen for them next.
