"We couldn't clean up New Orleans housing but God did&q

Post by LaWood »

Barney Frank, gay Demo NY, is taking over the House Financial Services Committee. The shit he is uncovering is great so far. Expect more.

"The video quality isn't the greatest; he said in clear language that doing nothing for New Orleans residents is an intentional strategy to make Louisiana richer, whiter, and more Republican. It's not a huge secret.

The latest elected official to step into the swamp was Rep. Richard H. Baker, a 10-term Republican from Baton Rouge. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that he was overheard telling lobbyists: "We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."

I can't remember which wingnut said that, but he said back when Katrina happened. Why is it showing up again now? There never has been any secret about what the Rs were trying to do with New Orleans. I won't go so far as to say it was planned from the beginning (either to put in inadequate levees or to ignore the "intelligence" about how inadequate they were), but I will say this administration has something like (evil) genius for turning everyone else's tragedy into increased wealth and power for themselves.
