Re: Post Your Prius Stats
One drawback of getting such good mileage is going two weeks past the quarter before needing to fill up again. As a result, I forgot to do the normal quarter reset, so I'll be missing a bit of info in July.

Re: Post Your Prius Stats
Deciding to continue the methodology accidentally adopted for the previous two quarters, here are my third quarter stats, slightly different than usual:
2013 Q3:
2749.3 miles
60.6 gal
45.38 MPG
computer data:
[exists only for Q1-Q3 combined; see below]
savings vs previous vehicle:
$309.40
92.14 gal
1843 lbs CO2
2013 totals to date:
8225.1 miles
182.0 gal
45.19 mpg
computer data for Q1-Q3:
175.0 gal
47.0 mpg
4.0% error
savings:
$926.67
274.92 gal
5498 lbs CO2
Additional note:
In July, the coil of MG2 in my Pruis's transaxle assembly burned out. The quoted cost of initial diagnosis, new transaxle, and installation, plus tax, was right at $7000. After refusing to let the Conway Toyota dealer give me the shaft (they refused to install a used part, lied about the reason why, and insisted that I'd get no more than $500 for the car on trade), I bought a used transaxle (which had fewer miles anyway), hauled it to Conway, and had the car towed to Russellville, where the Toyota dealer installed the part I supplied. Total cost (including the initial diagnostic analysis and the tow): $1800.
In contrast to the offer of ~$500, the local dealer is currently offering "up to $9750" on my model.

Re: Post Your Prius Stats
Wow, I didn't know the part about the $500 trade. They were totally trying to steal your car. And lots of people would have fell for it. The car shops are the worst. Just despicable. And every time I catch them in multiple errors, it's just pitiful.Savonarola wrote:(they refused to install a used part, lied about the reason why, and insisted that I'd get no more than $500 for the car on trade)

Re: Post Your Prius Stats
Your average at the end of 2013Q3 was 48.70, and your Q4 (only) mileage was 49.41, so we should expect your overall average to go up, as it did.Dardedar wrote:my mileage this quarter went down .43 yet my overall mileage went up .05, what's up with that?
Imagine the following sequence of mileages, listed by counting period and with running average in parentheses.
per: mpg (avg)
P1: 46 (46.00)
P2: 46 (46.00)
P3: 48 (46.67)
P4: 48 (47.00)
P5: 50 (47.60)
P6: 48 (47.67)
Notice that in P6, the mileage was less than in P5, but the average still went up because P1-P4 were lower than P5.
It's very much like the global warming nuts who look at 1998 and say that the earth is cooling. Don't judge your stats on an individual extreme.
(I finished my last December tank this weekend, so I'll post my stats very soon.)
