November 2011 Freethinker Meeting

It's time for our November meeting of the Fayetteville Freethinkers!

At this meeting we are going to focus on informing you about those very sincere folks who sometimes show up at your front door with
literature in hand, the Jehovah's Witnesses. We'll have a special guest speaker and former Jehovah's Witness elder explain the
basics on this often mysterious organization. What are their beliefs? How do they differ from mainstream Christians? What
accident did they witness? Also Darrel, who left the group as a teenager and has helped several leave the sect over the years,
will give a Fair and Balanced report on his experience.

We'll have reports and pictures from those who attended the Skepticon convention in Springfield. A.J. will tell us about the high points of the
Occam's Razor lecture by Darrel Ray on how religion spreads like a virus. Doug Krueger will teach us about the fallacy
"argument from ignorance," which happens to fit nicely with our experience of a lecture we attended by Oklahoma physics professor
Mike Strauss, who claimed to show that that he had scientific evidence for the existence of God. We will also have a guest presentation
by Shannon who will give us a reality based report on religious child abuse. We'll have some good funny clips to cheer us up after that.

When: Saturday, November 26, 2011.

Where: The Fayetteville Public Library. 401 W. Mountain
St. (two blocks west of the town square). Library phone: 571-2222.

Time: 2:00 - 4:30 pm

Room: The Walker Room, the main meeting room. Go in the front door, through the
lobby and go to your right. You can bring a snack or coffee from Arsaga's in the library lobby.
