BVM Tree

Post by Doug »

A tree with the Virgin Mary in it. That's the slit in the tree. After the owner spotted the BVM (Blessed Virgin Mary), there were thousands thronged in the area within hours. A heavily Catholic populace.

This is about 80 minutes from my hometown, in South Texas. This incident took place a number of years ago. I just happened to find the picture online.

You lost me on this one. Because the tree has a slit in it, it's supposed to be the BVM or contain the BVM - or do you just look in the slit (like a Fabrege easter egg) and see the BVM? Unless we're combining mythologies here (the Greeks have more than one story about gods turning people into trees - mostly as a "be careful what you ask for" because the folks in question wanted a longer than normal for a human life), there's no reason - even a "faith" reason for her to be in a tree.

I gather that the BVM is inside the slit, or something like that. Actually, I would think that if resemblance in trees is an indicator of the existence of a being, we should all believe in the Ents from The Lord of the Rings.

You mean you don't believe in Ents?
