Thanks Randall. The vid is a bit too long but your message is good. I wonder what lawsuit could be brought if those 50m non-believers would send $1 to the ACLU to
file a suit against this waste and fable builder?

The ACLU doesn't mess with lawsuits that ask a government/nation not to use it's own national motto.

May I recommend the serenity prayer?

What about lawsuits arguing that the motto is unconstitutional?
What about lawsuits that might lead to that conclusion?

Neither of which is to say that I think the SCOTUS would strike it down, at least with the current members.

They may support that, I would have to check. The ACLU is also very good at knowing how to invest their time and resources in issues and positions that have a chance of winning (and this one doesn't). That is to say, they are smart. Michael Newdow had the best most recent chance of doing something good on that front. I think his case was solid, so solid they couldn't even rule on it. The court ducked and got out of having to decide the case on the technicality of him not having standing (why take the case then?). What a joke.

I don't see much happening either. And there would be tiny support for it among the populace. Someday it may come up again and they might rule that the motto has become "ceremonial" or something like that. Which will probably be true. Right now we can say: one nation under God... but which one?

I was mentioning that I ought to get around to reading the Canadian constitution some day. Someone pointed out that it has some Christian stuff in there making it much more of a "Christian nation" than the US with it's perfectly secular godless constitution. And I don't doubt that many European countries, even with atheist majorities have lots of this Christian debris left over. So, does this stuff really matter? Not really. Society and people will change and their constitutions will stay mostly the same. And many of our laws and traditions will show a trail of our history and evolution.

Sounds good! Nothings going to happen to get rid of "in god we trust" off the dollar bill until we take action like this and go pickings in the streets. I support this idea and will participate. We should plan a trip to Washington D.C to picket this as it reaches the senate. I would make a donation for that.
