The bluer the section, the more the votes shifted from Republicans to Democrats in 2008 compared to 2004.
The redder the section, the more the votes shifted from Democrats to Republicans in 2008 compared to 2004.

It makes AR ground zero for racism. The map is a little misleading in that OK didn't shift as much red as AR did because it was already so red it couldn't shift any further. Sorry I can't link to it, but on the election map provided by Daily Kos, OK was the only state in the entire Union where not a single county went blue. (The Rs did such a stellar job of convincing oil-job-dependent OK that an Obama win would mean all the oil industry jobs would be abolished and they'd all starve. Now I truly hope Obama will eventually shut down the oil industry jobs - but he won't do it before replacing them with green energy industry job. Jobs - preferably green jobs - is his primary goal.)

That could be, and I have another little theory about this. Maybe Clinton support was especially strong in Arkansas (understandable) and a few more people than average had trouble making the switch from Clinton to Obama.

And the big nail in Demo-Blue-Obama coffin is what Bill Clinton has repeatedly mentioned:
NRA. High membership in all the red dot states. BHO has an "F" rating with the NRA.
BHO stated his support for more gun control or more enabling for local gun control during the presidential debates. Fought for more gun control while a member of Illinois lege.
