So which part of "It was not sold on Ebay, and it was not sold at a profit" is giving you the greatest difficulty, Galt?

I am going to do a little digging into this matter because depending on the plane they do not depreciate like a car. In a lot of cases small jets, twin-engine prop / turbo-prop and single engine aircraft can sell for more used than they did when they where new. Aircraft can have a much longer useful life span than a car and they do not depreciate the same way. There are federal mandated maintenance requirements for all aircraft and if the aircraft is used commercially the requirement are even more strict and all of this information is documented and kept on file with the FAA down to the oil changes. The penalties for not doing the required maintenance and documenting can be very harsh.

An airplane that sold for $3 million 10 years ago new may very well sell for $3 million or more today because a new airplane today of the same type may cost $4-4.5 million. So you end up with a 10 year old plane but it is just as safe and in some ways even more reliable than a new airplane for less money. I have worked in the aviation industry and still keep up with it.

Now what little I know about Alaska is that a lot of people use airplanes for transportation around the states because there are not roads........ like to Juneau, AK. Galt if you plan on going to Alaska to worship the ground that Palin has walked on you will have to fly or walk to Juneau. You will be uable to drive there just look at Rand-McNally map. How was she planning on getting around the state or back to her home? Did she have another airplane picked out that was not so "over the top"? Will she sell Air Force One as to "over the top"? That does not sound very Repulican to me.

This all seems to play right into Sarah Palin and the type of person she is really-DISHONEST. This plane deal sounds like a real sweatheart deal for someone and I still wounder if this plane was not desposed of to get something a little newer a little sleeker because we all know that Sarah is worth it! (Please note sarcasim.)

All,

I was watching the Daily Show last night and I thought they where kidding about showing the Walter Reed Middle School as a back drop for Sen. McCain's acceptance speach.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080905/od ... ooloffbeat

From the reports at the conditions of the Walter Reed Hospital maybe they wanted to show a good image and Republicans being Republicans did not think anyone would catch on.

I thought they were joking about that, too. Wow.

Here's a humorous spoof of McCain asking Palin to be his running mate:

ALSO, I had a good day yesterday. I found out that two different people in my office building have switched from McCain to Obama because they don't like Sarah Palin. They thought McCain was OK because he wasn't a fundamentalist, but are completely turned off by Palin's extremism. There *is* hope for some of these people!!

The same thing happens with quality pianos. I know a guy who bought a Yamaha grand in the late eighties for about $11,000. He just sold it for $25,000. The new models lists for about $55,000.

Yes, I read that the plane was often used for transporting prisoners.

Whether she said she "sold" it on eBay or "put" in on eBay, she, or rather Palin's speech writer was constructing a mythology. Myths contain elements of truth and leave out elements of truth. The e-bay airplane story, as it's told by Palin, creates in the hearer a false construct as it uses "put it on e-bay" to serve a more complete idea which is *sold on e-bay*. The plane didn't sell on e-bay. But no matter. The message, which is, I am also Robin Hood or something equally overblown, is sent and received. It's still BS.

Obama states the obvious:
Obama also took on McCain’s inner circle Saturday, saying the presence of former lobbyists at the highest tier of his campaign makes him incapable of meeting his pledge to shut down special interest influence.

“Suddenly, he’s the change agent,” Obama said of McCain. “He says, ‘I’m going to tell those lobbyists that their days in Washington are over.’ Who’s he going to tell? Is he going to tell his campaign chairman who’s one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he going to tell all the folks who are running his campaign who are the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington?

“Who is it that he’s going to tell that change is coming?” Obama asked. “I mean, come on, they must think you’re stupid!”

I wonder if that is true? Do you think McCain thinks you're stupid Galt?

Now there's a silly question. McCain's whole campaign relies on the fact that people are stupid enough to vote for him. Unfortunately, this is the one thing McCain is right about.

McCain said that Palin had said that she sold the jet on Ebay and "made a profit."

So is McCain just stupid or is Palin just a poor communicator? Or did McCain know better but he just lied? You choose:

A. McCain is stupid.
B. Palin is a poor communicator.
C. McCain is a liar.
D. All of the above.

Well, Galt? If Palin was not trying to make people believe the falsehood that she sold the plane on Ebay, why did McCain think that that is what she said? And why did he think that she sold it at a profit?

And that is why there are almost twice as many male delegates as female.

And for good measure: almost all delegates are white. You can tell the RNC convention from the DNC at a glance--and every minority in the Republican party, practically, was there. BOTH of them!

Are you suggesting that if you are going to make a sign and hold it up at a national conference where it may be read by millions on TV you should take care to correctly spell both of the words on your sign?

I'm still 95% sure that Trig Palin is Sarah Palin's grandchild, the whole thing about her being pregnant is a pack of lies they've foisted on the public. Which would be a personal matter, except for the lie about the girl being pregnant now to cover it all up. Does this look like the picture of a sister and her boyfriend holding a little brother?

I think this is the thread where we discussed cell phone users and the effect on polling. Here's a new article on the subject that says:

Combining polls it conducted in August and September, Pew found that of people under age 30 with only cell phones, 62 percent were Democrats and 28 percent Republicans. Among landline users the same age that gap was narrower: 54 percent Democrats, 36 percent GOP.

Similarly, young cell users preferred Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama over Republican nominee John McCain by 35 percentage points. For young landline users, it was a smaller 13-point Obama edge.

There's no doubt--either among Republicans, Democrats, Independents or Martians--that if the 2008 presidential election were held today, Barack Obama would defeat John McCain....by a landslide. Only 28 days until the election...which the GOP is going to spend each day trying to denigrate Obama.
