Re: McCain-Palin- a winning ticket!!!!!
The ignorance and short-sightedness (both backward and forward) of anyone who would vote for another Republican term is really astonishing. After all we've been through and where we are now, I just can't understand how anyone with even half a brain and a modicum of sense could look at the McCain policies and think it's a good idea.
Forget all about McCain and Obama, the men, or their running mates, or their personalities, races, genders, ages, flip flops, disabilities, or spouses for just a moment. Erase them from your mind. Now, make a list of all the policies in McCain's platform in one column and another list of Obama's proposed policies in the next column.
That is what really matters in this election. Not that Obama's preacher said bad things, or McCain's wife is a drug addict who stole money and/or drugs from a charity she worked for. When it comes to what is best for this country, and for the American people of this country, we really have to look at the policies each candidate wants to put in to place.
It is abundantly, wildly, crystal clear that the Democratic platform this year, in these times, is what America must choose if it wants to change course and get our economy and our international standing going in a positive direction instead of a negative direction.
Anyone who insists on voting for McCain is only doing it for selfish and/or short sighted reasons. They've been a Republican all their lives and can't change. They only care about ONE SINGLE ISSUE: abortion. They cannot possibly have any understanding of what is really happening in the Middle East and the utter chaos we've created there -- instead they just want to talk about how victorious the "surge" was. We wouldn't have even needed a surge if we hadn't created a huge mess in the first place!! And, we can't surge forever -- it was only a temporary success. How can they not understand this? It's so clear and easy to understand.

I have yet to see the GOP show substantial change from their typically misogynist platform. There is nothing more anti-woman than telling a woman that she has to have a child when she is pregnant. Taking away a woman's right to choose whether to have a child is taking away a fundamental, personal right. The GOP has no problem invading the right to privacy here and stating that they government knows better than the individual.
When the GOP platform ceases to be misogynist, let me know.

In addition to naming her kid after punk rockers our Repub # 2 SUPPORTS CREATIONISM
The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms.
Palin was answering a question from the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, 'Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both.'

Before she was named McCain's Vice Presidential nominee today, no one except for the people who live in Alaska ever heard of Gov. Sarah Palin -- or that she came in second place at the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant. Palin did win Miss Wasilla and the coveted Miss Congeniality award.

This is quite an ironic quote considering you paid so little attention to this woman and the actual issue that the picture you snagged from a random blog trying to point out Palin's similarity in appearance to a model/actress is of the actress and not Palin. The picture is of Sabine Ehrenfeld, most recognizable in this country from her Overstock.com commercials.Karl Rove Fan wrote:It's nice to see a political party that appreciates women, especially women that are more qualified than BHO.
Faux appreciation of women, rudimentary understanding of the issue, lack of attention to detail... No wonder you're a McCain-loving Rethuglican.
In the other thread, someone asked if McCain thinks that the American people are really that stupid. "Karl Rove Fan" answered that question with just his selected handle and removed all doubt with the content of the post...
Regardless, it's surely another drive-by by yet another rightwing nutjob who won't ever come back to discover just how stupid he is...

I was absolutely howling in my car today when I got to listen to the first excuses for her profoundly thin experience.
So here we have McCain, who according to average US lifespans is quickly approaching his expiration date. And he wants to put next in line behind him a former beauty queen who was a mayor of a town with a population of 10,000 [correction: 5,505] people and who has been governor of a sparsely populated state for 1.8 years.
That's it.
This was a Hail Mary, a panic pick. I understand that. But as Betsy says, how stupid does he think we are? Did Clarence Thomas fool any blacks? I don't think so. This will stir things up for a bit, but I think he just made a really really big boo. And I am very pleased.

Yes, she isn't even on par with the big vice-presidential moron of all time, Dan Quayle, in terms of experience.
She also says "nukular" instead of "nuclear." Just like Bush.
It was pathetic to see Monica "Shameless Sell-Out" Crowley on The McLaughlin Group praise the wisdom of this stupid, painfully transparent pick for VP. Eleanor Clift (a freethinker, by the way) on that show pegged it right as a shameless ploy to get disgruntled Hillary voters. But this just shows how shallow Republicans are. They don't understand women. They don't understand people, period, because they let ideology cloud their judgment/observations. But they seem to think Hillary voters were only voting for Hillary because she was a woman. It was what Hillary stood for AS a woman, FOR women, that was so compelling to many of her supporters. They aren't going to rush to vote for a woman who wants to repeal Roe v. Wade, as Palin does. The fact that the GOP thinks that liberal women will help elect someone who is unabashedly anti-abortion shows how little the GOP knows.

It's a bonus for Dems that Palin is a fundie. Makes it even easier to expose these people as scientifically illiterate morons living in their own fantasyland. It's a shame no more than a small percentage of the population is intelligent enough to recognize these characteristics.tmiller51 wrote:He really should have picked Olympia Snowe if they wanted to pick up Hillary voters, but of course the fundies would have gone nuts.

I wonder what our "Karl Rove fan" thinks of the following? (me thinks someone was getting a little ashamed of the "Galt" name). One thing "Galt" is strictly consistent on. His subject titles are invariably false, and most important, his first sentence is always a lie.
***
On August 10, Karl Rove went on “Face The Nation” to argue that Senator Obama would make an “intensely political choice” for Vice President without regard for the “responsibilities of president.” At the time, Rove believed Obama would choose Tim Kaine, and argued against him by saying this:
"With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years, he’s been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town. So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?"
Crooks and liars says, let's compare:
"Rove argues that Kaine’s mayorship of Richmond (pop. 200,000+) is insignificant and that his 3 years as Governor of Virginia (pop. 7,712,091, GDP $383 million) has been “indistinguisahable.” If Rove was intellectually consistent, wouldn’t that mean Palin’s mayorship of Wasilla (pop. 8,000+) and 20 months as Alaska governor (pop. 683,478, GDP $44.5 million) makes her even less qualified than Kaine?"
Snort.

Re: McCain-Palin- a winning ticket!!!!!

John McCain on Friday announced a running mate whom he met only six months ago and with whom he spoke just once on the phone about the position before offering it in person earlier this week.
McCain’s first encounter with Sarah Palin came at a Washington meeting of the National Governors Association in February, according to a campaign-provided reconstruction of how the little-known Alaska governor was thrust into the national spotlight. The two discussed the position by phone on Sunday before McCain invited Palin and her husband to Arizona to formally make the offer. McCain, joined by his wife, Cindy, did just that Thursday morning at their home near Sedona, Ariz.
By picking somebody he and most Americans barely know — an out-of-the-blue decision that sent shock waves of disbelief through the political world and still has jaws agape — McCain has taken a considerable gamble.
The choice is historic, yes. Palin becomes only the second woman to run on a major-party ticket and the first Republican woman to do so. But it’s also fraught with risks.
The entire story is on Politico
Now, "Winning Ticket" tell me this person wasn't simply chosen as a symbol, as a video message. It's no secret this will be the largest youthful voter turnout in our history and BHO is marginalizing McBudweiser
before the race begins with youthful voters.
Compare "winning ticket" her capabilities with those of Joe Biden. You cannot and you won't, Galt.
Maybe Darth Cheney can get her training wheels on before she needs them. But that shouldn't be necessary because she is going to be examined so closely she may go back home.

Damn, I was just going to make that point except I was going to ask, is it possible she could be under so much pressure that in the next few weeks they have to desperately pull a "Harriet Miers" and yank her? Maybe she could say she got pregnant again?
Republicans, you need to be very very afraid. McCain just pooped the bed on this one. This misreading, this clueless miss-step is right up there with Bush inviting Steven Colbert to perform at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner (you have figured out he was making fun of you right?).
He was!?

Obama's been handed a precious gift, McCain now has a "kick me" sign super glued to his back (put there by himself) and the race just got more interesting, while more predictable in outcome.

Why did he do this? You pick:
1) a vain attempt to convince Hillary supporters that they should think with their vaginas in the same way men like McCain think with their penises,
2) to shore up McCain’s standing with the abortion/hangin’/guns loving and science/polar bear cub hating base,
3) an act of supreme desperation brought on by the Democratic Convention.

Last night on the talk shows, the defenders of Palin, like Susan Molinari, were repeatedly emphasizing that she's running for VICE - president, not PRESIDENT, so her lack of foreign policy experience doesn't matter. Ha! Like we're all going to go, "oh. Okay. That's totally different then!"

Check out this video of Sara Palin as a sports caster at the local Alaska station in 1988, it's pretty funny because she's not really very good. Her voice is not quite as bad as fingernails on a chalkboard, as it was during her speech last Friday.
