More Harrison Religious Silliness

Post by RobertMadewell »

This flyer was found in my door last night. I was home but I didn't hear anybody knock. Judy came home and saw it in the door. They probably didn't want to disturb me. Maybe word got around that a heathen lives here, and they didn't want a confrontation.

Well, the church is 3 blocks from my house, on the same street.

What ever happened to Thou shalt not lie?

Note: The flyer misspelled the churches url. I corrected it in the link. It'll take you to the churches website.

Edit:
I found more information at the churches website. Read that (if you're brave) and tell me that they're not trying to brainwash children.

At least there's one good thing I can say about this. This church is teaching creationism exactly how they should ... At church. Think of what it would be like to have a curriculum like that in public schools.

According to the Bible, God does NOT keep his promises. There are plenty of examples of this.

However, I'm sure they'll lie to the kiddies and say that the Bile shows the opposite.

The "coloring book" has pictures of dinosaurs living alongside people. One has a couple having a picnic with a smiling triceratops munching just behind them.

The website says:
Dinosaurs fascinate children - and adults! Evolutionists use stories of dinosaurs to pull kids in and teach them the theory of evolution.
Aint that the pot calling the kettle black? You could rewrite it this way and it'll be true.

"Dinosaurs fascinate children - and adults! Creationists use stories of dinosaurs to pull kids in and teach them creationism."

I think my version is probably closer to truth in this case.

DAR
Elmdale Baptist in Springdale is having a series on this dino's and creationism stuff too. Or at least it is science and creationism. I am sure it will have some dino's in there somewhere. And the 7th Adventist's on Crossover road are having a teaching series on Bible prophecy fulfillment.

We are surrounded.

Apparently all the Baptist churches are offered the same "vacation bible school" program from the Southern Baptist Conference HQ - so this year seems to be dinosaurs. Too bad these guys have such a limited god. (And that's putting it kindly. You should hear what my "recovering baptist" best friend calls their god!)

Actually, This is the first dinosaur themed VBS I have seen this year. Most the other baptist churches had a program called "God's Big Backyard."
I don't know if this program is creationism based or not, though it sounds like it could be.

Edit:
I looked up God's Big Backyard and DinoDetectives websites. They're appearantly 2 different programs offered by different publishers. Looks like VBS programs could bring in some big $$$. Especially, if you can appeal to certain sensibilities. If lots of churches have a soft spot for creationism then why not publish a creationist program and sell it to churches for thier VBS. Why ain't I doing something like this? I can do the artwork. Oh yeah, I don't believe in lying to children. My atheist morality gets in the way once again.

More information:
Dino Detectives Website Regular Baptist Press. Includes a sample lesson. (Read it if you dare! Mwahahaha!)
God's Big Backyard Website Standard Publishing. (Not creationism, included for completeness) You might want to turn the sound down before bringing this page up.

Yeah, they get choices. It just depends how fruit-loopy the congregation is as to which one they take.
