McCain's "top choice" for VP

This just in: The guy who tops McCain's list for choice of VP is.....Mitt Romney! Why, you ask? Because he can raise $50 million in 60 days, according to the news, from his rich friends and the Mormon sect.

Other reasons include:

— Squeaky-clean and fully vetted by the national media.

— Has presidential looks and bearing and immediately would be a strong campaigner who could be trusted to stay on message.

— Family’s Michigan roots would help in a swing state that went Democratic in 2004.

The only problem, as they see it, is that there's no chemistry between McCain and Romney; in fact, they apparently don't really even like each other.

McCain-Mittens ticket - I like it. I can't think of a better duo to go down in the obscurity of defeated presidential tickets.

that was my thought, too - McCain can't win anyway (barring some extreme and unforeseen event) and I can't think of a single VP candidate who would even give him a little bump in that direction, but the Mormon dude just makes him even easier to beat.
