Let me introduce you to the hastily-resigned Judge Robert Somma, appointed by Bush in 2004. A few days ago Judge Somma's Mercedes-Benz E320 rammed a pick-up truck at 11:30 PM. No one was hurt but the police were called and it was duly noted that the Judge spent a good deal of time fumbling through his purse before finding his driver's license.


"I solemnly swear--I'm wearing panties!"

"He had a difficult time locating his license in his purse. He passed over it multiple times before removing it," officer Paul J. Thompson wrote in his report.

The officer offered no other details with regard to the judge's attire or accessories. Nor would representatives of the Manchester Police Department or the city solicitor's office, which worked out the negotiated plea agreement with Somma's lawyer.

When authorities removed him from the vehicle, they said he wore a black women's cocktail dress, fishnet stockings and high heels.
...The arresting officer reported Somma smelled of alcohol, slurred his speech and fell backwards against the door frame while getting out of his car.

His mug shot also shows he was wearing blue eye shadow. The judge wasn't coming home from a fancy dress ball or a late season Halloween Party. He had been imbibing gin and tonic as the Breezeway Pub, which advertises itself as "New Hampshire's favorite gay and alternative bar."

Robert Somma a Bush-appointed federal judge was in full drag when he was arrested for DUI after rear ending a pickup truck in New Hampshire on February 6th:

“He had a difficult time locating his license in his purse. He passed over it multiple times before removing it,” officer Paul J. Thompson wrote in his report.

Local news reports mention that Judge Somma resigned after pleading guilty to drunken driving. Other than the gay press, no one mentioned the black evening gown and fishnet stockings.

He’s been very active in the Little League and, predictably, was a chaplain for the First Christian Church, a position Republican child predators often use to seduce young children.

I really doubt that there is much to this McCain flap, or that it is likely to go anywhere. But considering the Bay Buchanan quote above, this from a columnist for The Atlantic is interesting:

"Obviously, I don't know whether or not McCain had sex with Iseman. I suppose by "what the meaning of the word 'is' is" standards, he didn't even deny having had sex with Iseman. Certainly it'd be a bit rich of McCain to get outraged that anyone would even suggest that he might engage in sexual improprieties. After all, it's well known that he repeatedly cheated on his first wife Carol, of a number of years, with a variety of women, before eventually dumping her for a much-younger heiress whose family fortune was able to help finance his political career. That's well known, I should say, except to the electorate, who would probably find that this sort of behavior detracts from McCain's "character" appeal."

The Dems are trying to keep to the point - whether or not McCain was literally "in bed with a lobbyist", most assuredly metaphorically was "in bed with a lobbyist" - attacking his anti-lobbyist cred.

Republican Lt. Governor Chief of Staff and Former Hulshof Staffer Charged With Pornography to Minor On Internet

The Chief of Staff to Republican Lt. Governor Peter Kinder and former staffer to Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Kenny Hulshoff has been charged with showing pornography to a minor.

Republican hypocrisy hits Missouri once again as Eric Feltner, Chief of Staff to Republican Lt. Governor Peter Kinder and ex-staffer to Republican Kenny Hulshoff, was caught up in an Internet sex sting chatting with what he thought was a 13 year old.

This is another serious blow to the Missouri Republican Party which has been plagued with scandals.

Kinder is in a tough fight for re-election against Rep. Sam Page and Hulshoff is in a heated primary with Republican Sarah Steelman. The winner is almost sure to lose to Democrat Jay Nixon.

Ex-Clark Co. GOP chief admits performing oral sex on a sleeping man

The former chairman of the Clark County Republican Party pleaded guilty today to criminal deviate conduct as part of an agreement that could result in two years behind bars.

Glenn Murphy Jr. was arrested after authorities said he performed oral sex on a sleeping man following a July 28 party at a home in Jeffersonville. The plea agreement calls for a six-year sentence, with four years suspended.

Murphy is free on a $25,000 bond pending his June 30 sentencing.
Murphy, who was also chairman of the Young Republican National Federation, resigned from both posts when the allegations were made public in August.

The allegations initially came to light when they were posted on the personal blog of Indiana Democratic Party spokeswoman Jennifer Wagner.
The 22-year-old man who brought the complaint told investigators that he and Murphy were among a group of people who spent the night at a home after a party there, according to an affidavit by Detective Randy Burton of the Clark County sheriff's office.

Murphy slept on a top bunk while the man slept on a lower bunk, the affidavit said. The man said he awoke at 6:40 the next morning and found Murphy performing oral sex on him, according to the document.

The man told Burton that he pushed Murphy away and left.
Two days later, the affidavit said, the man met with Murphy and secretly taped a conversation during which Murphy apologized and begged him not to report the incident to police.

Here's a new one,

JEFFERSON CITY -- Missouri state Rep. Scott Muschany, R-Frontenac, was indicted today in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended.

The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany -– who is married and has two children -- were romantically involved, the woman said.

Anti-gay 'expert' in the spotlight

Back in 2004, the state of Arkansas produced a dubious "expert witness" to defend the indefensible -- the Mike Huckabee administration regulation adopted by a board he packed with conservative religionists that prevented gay people (or people in homes that included gay people) from adopting or being foster parents. The rule was struck down by the state Supreme Court. That led to an initiated act that was approved by voters. It recently was struck down by a circuit judge.

The expert was George Rekers, an anti-gay Baptist minister said to be an expert in "conversion therapy" -- "curing" gayness. He is also a founder, with James Dobson, of the Family Research Council, sort of the home church for Arkansas's anti-gay Family Council

Here's an article in the New Times of Miami about a recent European vacation Rekers took in the company of a companion, dubbed Lucien, he apparently found on rentboy.com (NSFW).

Rekers, a Baptist minister who is a leading scholar for the Christian right, left the terminal with his gay escort, looking a bit discomfited when a picture of the two was snapped with a hot-pink digital camera.

Reached by New Times before a trip to Bermuda, Rekers said he learned Lucien was a prostitute only midway through their vacation. "I had surgery," Rekers said, "and I can't lift luggage. That's why I hired him."

No smoking gun, so to speak, but, the article concludes:

Well, it's a good thing Rekers isn't gay himself. Lucien tells us that Rekers frequently takes in foster children and that four years ago he adopted a 16-year-old boy. We found the boy, who is now Lucien's age, on Facebook. He declined to be interviewed.

Gay rights advocates naturally have pounced.

PS -- Rekers tried to bill Arkansas $200,000 for his valueless testimony, but settled for $60,000.

The male escort hired by anti-gay activist George Alan Rekers has told Miami New Times the Baptist minister is a homosexual who paid him to provide body rubs once a day in the nude, during their ten-day vacation in Europe.

Rekers allegedly named his favorite maneuver the "long stroke" -- a complicated caress "across his penis, thigh... and his anus over the butt cheeks," as the escort puts it. "Rekers liked to be rubbed down there," he says.

In his first interview since New Times broke the story Tuesday, the 20-year-old escort, who prefers to go by the name Lucien, contradicts Rekers's contentions that he hired the escort to help carry his luggage and that he was trying to save the soul of a lost sinner.
