An internet poll to storm.

Post by RobertMadewell »

I usually don't mess with internet polls, but this one asks the simple question that everyone should ask themselves. According to this poll, 56% of the american vistors to the site, do not believe in God. Of course this poll is only counting the people who actually find this site and vote. So, the data is virtually worthless. The visitors to the site may not represent a fair slice of american opinion.

No, completely worthless, there is no "may not" about it. But these are fun and I vote on them too. It might scare a fundie.
So I guess you are right with "virtually worthless." There is a little virtue in scaring a fundie that half of the population doesn't believe in god. The day is coming.

Stand corrected. My wording leaves a bit to be desired.

Now the poll says 57% are godless heathens like me.

I went to the site - since they don't define "god" I'm stuck with voting "no" - I might have voted yes, if they'd given me a definition. They probably wouldn't have defined it in a way I could vote "yes" on anyway, so I guess my vote is as valid as anybody else's.

Here's a new poll to crash. The subject is a possible new license plate option in South Carolina:
Under a new law, South Carolina is the first state to give drivers a chance to display a Christian cross on their license plates. The design features a cross over a stained-glass window and the words "I Believe."
The poll question is "What do you think of the South Carolina license plate?" and you can vote thumbs up or thumbs down. As of now, the thumbs up are way ahead.

I voted. Right now the "thumbs down" are at 66%.

The validity of said polls....

Just keep in mind... these polls have already been crashed by Pharyngulites.

The numbers are much scarier before the pirates invade.

I tried to vote - yes, it would have been "thumb's down - but couldn't open the site. I don't know if they've pulled it down or my computer is just not up to it. (The latter is unfortunately possible.)

The first poll doesn't seem very useful since the only people who go to that site will likely be people like us. Right now, the majority are with us, but we all know that's not the case really.

The second poll about the currency has apparently flipped since the last time you looked. Now most people are saying NO it should not be changed. So I guess some churches got that one on their email lists....

There's a new poll on the CNN.com web page. Question: Do You Believe in God?

Right now it's actually running about 33% yes, 67% no.

An atheist friend of mine on a fundie blog needs some help roasting "DennyReader" and other numbskulls who are trying to show that atheists can't have a decent, rewarding worldview.

Jump in and do some roasting if you have the time.

The blog thread is about that woman in the news who had a tree branch stuck in her throat and didn't die. So the fundies are saying that God helped her and that's why she didn't die. And those killed by trees in other incidents? It was their time, apparently.

The blog thread is here.
